Bristol's Baptism / End of summer fireworks w/ Brooklyn

Bristol was finally baptized on August 17, 2014.  It was a beautiful day and she looked just as beautiful.  She wore the same gown that I wore as a baby and Brooklyn wore for her baptism as well. Her Godmother is Aunt Erica and her Godfather is Uncle Mike.  We put off getting her baptized until after we figured out her belly issues because we didn't want her to be miserable and scream through the entire mass.  I'm glad we waited because she was just as happy as could be through the whole service and didn't even mind the holy water on her head.  She did great!  We had a little get together at our house afterwards and all the family came to celebrate.  We had tons of food and goodies!

So Sayre decided to have their fireworks show at the end of the summer this year instead of on July 4th.  This was due to late notice and not having enough time to plan the fireworks show.  Hopefully next year it will be on the 4th as usual.  We weren't sure we were going to go since it was the day before school started and I figured Brooklyn would be getting tired by the time it was over.  But I decided to give it a try anyway.  Unfortunately Derek had to work the fireworks show so we were on our own with Aunt Carrie, Uncle Tory, Aunt Erica, Kylie, Carter, Colton, Heather, and Rick...soo not on our own at all lol.  We met at Carrie's house and walked over to the fields by the railroad tracks.  We found good seats and waited...I wasn't sure how Brooklyn would react since she was not a huge fan last year.  She, like Bristol, gets startled easily and doesn't like loud noises.  When they first started she wasn't paying attention and looked at me with a look of pure panic on her face.  She grabbed on to me tighter than ever and started to cry....I reassured her that it was ok and told her to look at how pretty....she sat on my lap watching and kept saying no...nooo...nooo....but didn't take her eyes off of them.  After a minute she settled in and sat quietly watching the show.  She ended up falling asleep before they were over and slept through the finale!

Waiting for the show to start!

Not a fan yet...

Sound asleep lol

My baby girl is 8 months old!

My baby is 8 months :(

Time is flying by and I need it to slow down!  I feel like it was yesterday we were struggling to figure out her belly issues and now she is 4 months away from being a toddler.  And while I am glad we got through that I would give anything to have those days back to be able to enjoy my baby again.  She no longer wants to sit or lay with me in the chair...she no longer wants to snuggle or cuddle...and she no longer wants to just hang out and look around.  She now wants to move move move, screech, screech, screech, and move, move, move! She is not crawling yet but man is she close!  She scoots on her butt and uses her legs like a skier (side to side) to get to where she wants to go.  One minute she is in one spot and the next minute she is across the room.  She has been attempting to pull herself up but so far isn't able to make it without a little help.  All these things are ok with me!  There is no need for her to crawl yet...or pull herself up!  I want her to stay a baby....I attempted a stage 3 food the other day and she gagged on the peas in it...not going to lie...I was kind of happy (not that she gagged) that she wasn't ready for that yet!  She is getting into everything now and everything goes right into her mouth..yuck!

So at 8 months Bristol:
- is wearing 9-12 month clothes
- loves watching her brothers and sister and can't wait to join in with them
- loves her baby food and I don't see her giving it up anytime soon
- loves sweet potatoes, bananas, apples, squash...and all the cool mixes beechnut and gerber make now!
- loves going for walks in the stroller
- hates hates hates loud noises...
- startles easy and cries (used to love the vacuum but now hates it)
- sleeps well in her crib
- has 5 big girl teeth!!  ...3 on bottom and 2 on top!
- does really well with teething...no yucky diapers or fevers or extreme fussiness yay!
- still won't hold her bottle on her own much...every once in a while she will...but again its ok with me!
- no longer uses her baby swing at all...its been a good month since she has used it :(
- no longer uses the rock n play at all...again about 2-3 months since she's used it :(
- weighs about 22 pounds!!!
- can screech louder than any human being I know
- gets told all the time that she looks just like her sister
- gets asked if her and Brooklyn are twins
- is in BIG GIRL CARSEAT!!  Rear facing still though for a bit...not much longer though!
- tried Plums Organics brand baby puff cereal thingies...not a huge fan right away but she's getting it (no soy in these ones)
- won't use a sippy cup....just chews it and throws it
- likes to be tickled on my neck
- is an absolute sweet heart that everyone falls in love with!

Brookie is 20 months and in a big girl bed!

Only 4 months until my baby is 2.  It doesn't seem possible!  I don't want it to be so...but I guess I don't have much of a choice.  It is so much fun to watch her learn and grow.  Although the scattered toys, food, toys, sippy cups, and toys drive me insane at times...I wouldn't change it for the world.  Although at times I get frustrated with her climbing all over me and pulling on me and repeatedly saying mama, mama, mama, mama...I dread the day that she doesn't want to climb on me and cuddle or even..dare I say..talk to me.  She will eventually be a "teenager" and want nothing to do with her mama.  I know I am getting a bit ahead of myself here but I have to stop and remember to enjoy the time now because soon enough she will not want to do the lovey things she does now.

This past month we finally said enough is enough with Brooklyn climbing out her crib and got her a big girl bed.  Actually...she got Dylan's bed and he and Colton got new bunk beds that are just debunked and in their own rooms.  I was expecting to spend many nights in her bed with her to get her used to it and to get her to stay put.  She is doing AWESOME!!  I have not had to spend one night in there!  The first few days I laid with her until she fell asleep and now I just go lay her down, tuck her in, give her kisses, tell her I love her..and she is out!  The first few weeks she woke up fairly often and needed a bottle or a snuggle to get back to sleep but nothing unmanageable.  Now she wakes maybe once and wants a bottle..and is back out.  I know..I know..you are all thinking why is she still having a bottle.  Well because I don't want to take it away from her! lol  She had a tough transition with a new baby sister right around the time they say the bottle should go...so I choose to leave it alone.  Its comforting to her and harmless and only at night so as far as I'm concerned she can have it forever lol.  She is going through a phase right now too where she doesn't want to eat much at all..so I think she is waking because she is hungry...but she refuses to eat sooo I'm at a lose of what to do.  Hopefully she starts eating soon!

So at 20 months Brooklyn:
* loves to push her baby stroller around the house and chase the dog with it
* is obsessed with a few things including: stickers, minnie mouse, elmo, trucks, Erka, milk, and her sister
* loves her sister to pieces.  She is always concerned about where she is and what she is doing
* watches out for her sister and yells uh oh, uh oh, uh oh if Bristol tips over, cries, or drops a toy
* is loving her big girl bed
* loves having her sister in the same room as her.
* likes to eat popsicles and says it "popfidal"
* is talking a lot more.  Some new words are : boys, frog, bunny, help, up, yes,
* loves to watch elmo, yo gabba gabba, doc mcstuffins, sophia the first, and mickey mouse clubhouse
* likes to feed her baby dolls her sippy cups and food
* says dog everytime she drops food on the floor and then takes it to Zoey to eat
* dances all over the place
* literally shakes the dog when I ask Zoey to shake when giving her a treat lol
* loves the hokey pokey
* likes to color...and so does her mommy
* naps only once a day
* hates to eat
* wants to drink only milk all the time
* will never pass up a chip or popcorn...oye
